In 1980, Lourdes Albarellos graduated from the Professional School of Arts in Camaguey, Cuba with a degree in Ballet. She then joined the Camaguey Ballet Company under the direction of Mr. Fernando Alonso. Later Lourdes joined the Cuban National Ballet, under the direction of Mrs. Alicia Alonso where they toured all of Latin America and India. She later joined the Joffrey Ballet Company, in New York City under the direction of Mr. Robert Joffrey from 1985 to 1989. She has also been affiliated with Creation II Ballet Company in Miami, Ballet Concerto, and Ballet Etudes of South Florida.

She has performed in various ballet productions including Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Giselle, Sylvia, The Sleeping Beauty, Paquita, La Sylphide, Grand pas de Quatre, Bayadere, and Cinderella, among others.

Ms. Albarellos has extensive mentorship and teaching experience. She has instructed as Ballet Mistress for various Ballet Intensives including La Scala Theatre Ballet at La Scala in Milan, Italy, Florida Masters, St. Lucie Ballet, and West Point Ballet. She has taught at Steps on Broadway as well as The Broadway Dance Center in New York City. She has participated in choreography for multiple pieces and has also participated as a dancer and choreographer in various music videos for Gloria Stefan, Chayanne, and other artists. She has participated in television shows, and toured with different artists. She has choreographed for various television commercials and movies such as “Taking Charge” under the direction of Gino Cabanas.

Ms. Albarellos has judged for various dance competitions and is sought after for private coaching of pre- professional and professional dancers of different genres. She has coached and tutored dancers of all levels on technique and form and prepared many for presentations, competitions, and auditions. She is affiliated with the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami as a Mistress Ballet and assistant regisseur, under the direction of Mr. Pedro Pablo Peña. She is the Director of Springs Dance Center and is a free-lance ballet instructor for multiple studios in Miami including Stars Dance Company, Dancetown, Dance Attack, Xtreme Dance, Focal Point, Elite and Dance Unlimited.

Ms. Albarellos’ vast experience in the profession of dance, and her commitment to this art form has inspired many. Dance is not just a job for her, but a lifelong passion. Her drive will continue to be fueled by the impact she makes on her students every day, and this impact will be her legacy.
